The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

She hides in her room
Door locked, everyone asleep
Finally she cries

She lies in her bed
Horrible thoughts in her mind
Pathetic, useless

A knife at her side
She’s done this a million times
She cries till she sleeps

The very next day
You’ll see her but never know
A smile on her face

She wishes you’d know
But she keeps it a secret
Lets it control her

Sometimes the happiest people
Carry the heaviest burdens.

CRY OUT TO GOD: In the Psalms, David writes honestly about his feelings. Reading the Psalms as our own thoughts and prayers can help us through tough times. Writing out our feelings can also be helpful. In a journal, cry out to God as David did in the Psalms. Ask for God’s help and protection. Allow your prayer to give you courage to ask an adult you trust for help.

Say these words to yourself several times: God knows my brokenness, and God can handle it. Allow that truth to sink in. Ask God to make it more real to you every day so that you may live in the light of the love that sets us free.
