I Sit Alone

By: Bethany Acker [Plover, WI]

I sit all alone
No one talks to me

They have made me an outcast
Because of what I believe
I am different
And it used to bother me
But I trust that my beliefs are true
That I am following God’s lead
So I will show them love
Even when they are mean

Live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.
Colossians 1:10 (NIV)

I will never give up
Until God’s love by all is seen
I am cast away because of my faith
And popular I will never be
I want to do what’s right in God’s eyes
To be all that God wants me to be
That means much more than doing things
To please friends or to please me
So I will sit here all alone
And I will always believe

LIVE YOUR BELIEFS: Standing up for what we believe can make us unpopular. But I’m learning how important it is to live each day in a way that reflects my beliefs. When my friends see me live in a way that honors God, they are more open to hearing what I have to say—or at least they allow me to express my beliefs without ostracizing me. How might your friendships change if you decided to live every day a life that honors God?
