Love the Unlovable

By: Emily Acker [Plover, WI]

The one who isn’t well loved, I will call ‘loved one.”
Romans 9:25b (CEB)

Picture that girl at school who annoys you every day. You can’t stand the tone of her voice. You are tired of the way she whines. You hate the drama she creates. You want to spend as little time around her as possible, right?

Now imagine asking God to change the way you think about this girl. You start to consider what might have happened in her life that has made her the way she is. You wonder what struggles she might face each day. You see others turn away from her, and you step in to be her friend.

Asking God to change the way we see another person can make a difference in the way we think and the ways we act on our faith.

REFLECT AND PRAY: Take some time to think about the people who drive you crazy or whom you avoid at all costs. Consider what might be going on beneath their annoying habits. Ask God to help you see them and love them.
