As the meteors began to streak across the sky, my brother noted times and frequencies. A big one shot by fast. A smaller and brighter one fell slowly; we could see it burning. Who would want to sleep through this?
God’s eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made.
Romans 1:20a (CEV)
On another day in the spring, I was walking through the fields, and I frightened a deer. I decided to follow as it bounded into the woods. At the edge of the field I stopped. There at my feet was a perfect, little fawn. What had brought me to that exact place at that moment? Just before taking that walk I had asked to see God, but I had not expected this.
We could see God’s love lavished all around us if we would only take time to look. Whether we glimpse the moon bathed in early morning glory, happen upon a lone daffodil in the middle of nowhere, or witness a double rainbow after a storm, God is everywhere.
PRAYER: God, let us enter each day with joyful anticipation of the ways you will exhibit your love and presence with us through your creation.
