Throughout the church service, I watched three young girls coloring. Each girl would draw something quickly and then proceed to the next piece of paper in an almost production-line fashion.
After the service, the girls gathered by the door and handed out their creations. Each drawing included a different message, such as “John 3:16,” “Follow Your Dreams,” or “Smile! You’re part of God’s creation.”
These little girls embodied the act of spreading Christ’s love. Each church member was surprised to receive a drawing and filled with joy by its colorful message. Soon many adults were sharing their drawings and asking to see what others had received.
Three girls inspired 100 recipients. What can you do?
CREATE JOY: Random acts of kindness bring joy to recipients, instigators, and observers. Unsolicited and often spontaneous, these acts require creativity. When have you been surprised by an act of kindness? In what unique ways could you spread Christ’s love?
