Thank You

By: Von Mitchell [Cedaredge, CO]

When I was eight years old, Terry Burleson was my mentor. My mom signed me up for his gymnastics class,

but Terry taught me more than how to do a few somersaults. He outlawed the words I can’t. Every time he asked me to do something and I responded, saying, “I can’t,” he had me run five laps. I ran a few times, but I soon modified my vocabulary. I still carry that lesson with me today.

Every time I think of you, I thank my God.
Philippians 1:3 (CEV)

A few years back, I tried to find Terry. I read a book called The Pact: Three Young Men Make a Promise and Fulfill a Dream, by three doctors from New Jersey, and was inspired to reach out to those who had added value to my life. Terry was certainly one of those people, but I couldn’t find him. I looked on Facebook and did all kinds of online searches to no avail. I would like to tell him thanks for all he did in my life.

ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE: We are all like the turtle on top of the fence post—we didn’t get where we are all by ourselves. So don’t wait! Reach out today and thank the people who have made a difference in your life.
