Older Friends

By: Megan Ellenberger [Stevens, PA]

Is not wisdom found among the aged?
Does not long life bring understanding?
Job 12:12 (NIV)

Arlene and her husband Dave are two of my good friends. They are not my age, not even the same generation; but they are important to me. As coworkers, Arlene and I connected almost immediately. We can talk for hours on spiritual subjects such as the Holy Spirit, God’s work in our lives, and more. Outside of work, we all get together to eat, occasionally visit churches together, and keep up with each others’ lives and spiritual journeys. I go over to Arlene and Dave’s house to tell them about a mission trip I’ve been on, and we pray together. They are mentors to me and an incredible blessing. I am glad to call them friends.

REFLECT: No one is ever too old to be your friend or to impart wisdom to you. When you need a listening ear, think about your older friends; they are never too old to understand.
