Model Hospitality

By: Gracie Kelley [Marietta, GA]

I am learning to be hospitable by serving others before myself and by putting their needs before my own.

Treating others the way I want to be treated is important to me, but sometimes it’s not easy. When I see people, I try to view them as sons or daughters of the living God and to remember that they are loved. I want to love others and to accept them because God created them.

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Romans 12:13 (NIV)

My mother models for me a life of hospitality, always putting others first. I have seen her help the abused, the poor, the sick, and the lost. Her most gracious act for me personally was to adopt me from China. I too want to offer others the gift of hospitality because Christ called us to serve.

ACT ON IT: Find a way to offer hospitality each day this week. For example, hold the door for a stranger or “pay it forward” at the drive-through. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day.

Act on It

Christ’s love is alive in all his disciples. With whom will you share the unconditional love of Christ today?
