Living A Lie

By: Anonymous [NC]

I live a lie. I live in confusion. Part of me wants to live for the Lord;

the other part rebels against all things right and pure. At home, I hold back my secrets. Elsewhere, the rebel is prominent. Not many people see both sides.

At the top of the list of six things the Lord hates are “a proud look” and “a lying tongue.” Read the rest of the list in Proverbs 6:16–19.

I despise living two contradictory lives. I keep returning to them because living a certain way around some people and another way around others is easier; and yet, I am tired of faking it, of being indecisive, of lying to cover up my other side. I find no peace in a dishonest life, no rest in lying to parents to cover up where I’ve been or in putting on a mask to hide my real feelings.

The choice to be real is up to us. Although God doesn’t want us to live a deceptive life, ultimately God allows us to choose how we will live. What will you choose?

This week, risk being real with someone close to you.
